Oil Painting, as an important part of drawing, has a long history and tradition. Besides, itcontains plenty of creative ideas related to humans and nature. The painters, with playing asignificant role in the society, bear the responsibility to inherit and carry forward humancivilization as well as the others. According to the human painting history, many paintingideas are based on humans and nature observations and then performed through the painters’artistic talent and inspiration. Therefore, oil painting is important by the reason that itdemonstrates humans’ wisdom and emotion.Chinese urban oil painting, which was a significant component during the paint history,shows their individual characteristics as a result of the opening and reform process in China.With the development of the opening and reform process, the living style of most cities inChina has been changed to a new way. Thus, this new kind of living style gives painters lotsof new materials and ideas that lead their paintings to a new direction. Nowadays, more andmore painters begin to put some new modern city elements into their oil paintings. As a result,new city life, unique aesthetic and distinctive culture are appropriately combined together andcan be found and seen in many famous painting works.In this paper, in order to discover the Chinese contemporary creative ideas and paintingmethods, amount of representative Chinese oil painters and their paintings are discussed. Inthe oil painting creation process, the drawings were strongly influenced by painters’ emotionand attitude which can be felt by themselves. Furthermore, from the aspect of society, thevalue and culture of the society could also be a factor that should be taken into considerationthat may affect the painting ideas. In conclusion, lots of factors which may affect theselections of ideas and the methods of creation will be deeply discussed in this paper.
