Research On The Residents’ Lifestyle Changes In Kulangsu Under The Influence Of Tourism

The development of tourism in Kulangsu has produced a significant economiceffect since the reform and opening-up policy in1970s. The culture in Kulangsu istaking place imperceptibly in the context of tourism development. More and morescholars focus on the influence of tourism development on the residents’ lifestylechanges in recent years. The officer will know better about the influence of tourismdevelopment on residents’ living if we can understand and grasp correctly the contentand direction of the residents’ lifestyle changes and study the mechanism which bringabout lifestyle changes. The officer can pay more attention on the residents’ attitudetowards the development of tourism when establishing tourism development policiesgetting more support. As an important beneficial group of tourism, the residents’demands are considered or not that has an important significance on the harmoniousdevelopment of the local tourism.This thesis takes Kulangsu as an example. Based on the study of the residents’lifestyle changes with the theory of human geographical thoughts and man naturerelationship system, life cycle theory and the theory of Stakeholders, by a largenumber of questionnaires, using relevant statistical software and mathematicalanalysis, the paper analysis the residents’ attitude towards the lifestyle changes. Thesurvey includes changes of living environment, economic living, social and culturalliving, and spare-time culture. Based on the analysis of the residents’ lifestylechanges, this paper discusses the mechanism of lifestyle changes, and it indicates thatthe main internal impetus of this mechanism is the establishment of the governmentpolicies and the urbanization of the residents’ concept, while the external impetusmainly comes from the cultural effects of foreign tourists and the influence thatinvestors have on the living and environment of local residents as well as the changesof nature and social environment. The regulation measures on the changes of theresidents’ lifestyle are to control the quantity of tourists, adjust the populationstructure, improve the living facilities, suffice the residents and reform reasonablythe system of management.
