Emotional expression and transmission have always been one of the important factors in the process of the artists’creating oil paitings. Originally, emotion refers to people’s psychological forms such as pleasure, anger, sorrow and joy. In the creation of oil paintings, it is a logical activity on the basis of aesthetic knowledge. A work embodies not only the painter’s techniques but also his real emotions expressed via the content, line and color of his painting. In the whole painting, content is the blood, line is skeleton and color is spirit. Only combining the three of them and the painter’s emotions, can it be depicted in the picture. Though I have been learning oil painting for several years, I am only a noive painter as one of the oil painting learners. In order to learn oil painting, being talented, one needs to experience and introspect attentively and profundly. In several months’process of creating oil painting, the writer has profundly introspected the personal experiences in creating oil paiting. Discussing the influence of emotion on creating paintings and its concrete manifestations, the paper focuses on the importance of free emotional expressions in painting.
