Greeting is one of the speech acts that the social linguistics study on, and also aobject that pragmatics focus on. It basically is a kind of expressive speech acts, and isalso a kind of polite strategies. Factors that Influence greeting are various, such associal factors, environmental factors and psychological factors. Speech acts ofpeople play a very important role in real life. Speech acts in the research ofpragmatics are of great significance.In the history of the development of Chinese greetings, the modern andcontemporary Chinese greetings are chosen as research object for investigation,analysis and research in this paper. The definition of greeting is further expanded sothat generalized greetings and special greetings are both included in the researchscope for dynamic study, which is also a kind of breakthrough compared withprevious studies.
