《New anecdotes of the Tang Dynasty》 is a note body history book, written by Liu Su who lived in Tang Dynasty.This book was rich in content and well-preserved a large number of lexical data in the early and the middle Tang Dynasty. It is suitable for the research of polysyllabic words.With the polysyllabic words of 《New anecdotes of the Tang Dynasty》 as research target. First, set the judge standards through the comparative analysis of senior scholar’s study standards. Then segment polysyllabic words out, count its’total number and the frequency of appearance of every single polysyllabic word, build up corpus.Third, thorough study the polysyllabic words from semantic、part of speech and word order three aspects. Finally, summarize the general characteristics.This thesis has five parts. The first part is exordium, discussed the author of 《New anecdotes of the Tang Dynasty》; the objective、value and methods for the study on the polysyllabic words; the judge standards of polysyllabic words. The second part study the polysyllabic words which formatted by pronunciation-based formation,include non overlapping simple words and overlapping polysyllabic words. The third part study the polysyllabic words which formatted by grammar-based formation, include coordinated polysyllabic words、subordinate polysyllabic words、 verb-object polysyllabic word、verb-supplement polysyllabic words、subject-predicate polysyllabic words and affixations. The fourth part mainly analyse and describe comprehensive polysyllabic words.The fifth part is concluding remarks, summarizes the general characteristics of polysyllabic words which segmented from《New Anecdotes of the Tang Dynasty》...
