The primary purpose of this study is to introduce a poet, Li Shanfu, who was in the Late Tang Dynasty in China. It’s supposed to discuss Li Shanfu’s life experience, the content and poetic feature of his poems according to the related documents.The first chapter studies Li’s life experience. Li Shanfu failed lots of times in the Imperial Examinations held by the Tang Government. So he’s defeated many times on his way to pursue an official career. Then he went to Weibo,office of a commanding general in the Late Tang Dynasty. His final whereabouts after888A.D. becomes a hot topic these days. This paper supports one argument among the scholars’. That is, Li Shanfu escaped from the mutiny and continued to assist Luo Hongxin and his son in Weibo.The second chapter is supposed to discuss the specific content of Li Shanfu’s poems. The domestic situation was characterized by turbulence and in tranquility in the Late Tang Dynasty. So Li Shanfu can’t fulfill his dreams and dedicate himself to his country. He can only chant his dreams in his poems. As to discuss this topic more easily, this essay was about to discuss five kinds of content of his poems:His sadness in the exams; his grievances with the whole nation and the people; His ode to the history, the objective, and his friendship.The third chapter talks over the poetic features of his poetry. Firstly, the main style of Li Shanfu’s poetry is pure, easy, and odd, influenced by Bai Juyi and Jia Dao, two famous poets. It’s also fresh and quiet, impressed by the Buddhism and Taoism. Secondly, Li Shanfu is good at the seven-syllable regulated verse, etc.
