Research On The Women’s Consolation Association Of Shaanxi In The Period Of The War Of Resistance Against Japan

After the Anti-Japanese War broke out, national conflict became the main contradiction, people’s anti-Japanese emotions upsurged and spread the whole China. With the establishment of united anti-Japanese battlefront, the struggle has shifted from the national to anti-Japanese. As a part of the four hundred millions women, joined the battle bravely and devoted themselves to this war. In response to the goal of the founding of the Anti-Japanese War, the appeal of Song Meiling’s call, known as Madame of Chiang Kai-shek’s, the first national women’s group was founded—Chinese Women’s Consolation Association. Take "to suit the requirement of the war, encourage women both at home and abroad to try best to struggle for our country" as goal, for the purpose of the call of the Federation, in order to expand the influence of the Federation, branches established throughout the country. On16th, August1937, Chinese women reward War soldiers Shaanxi Branch established (hereinafter referred to the Women’s Consolation Association of Shaanxi).There are four parts which described the main activities of the Women’s Consolation Association of Shaanxi in the next eight years, from1937to1945the dissolution in details, to show the contribution of Shaanxi Women who did for this war. The first part states the establishment of the association, to memory the previous activities of the women’s movement which provide historical background for the establishment of women’s comfort.and Shaanxi branch was established to answer the call of the Federation and the mission after establishment. The second part introduces the staffs and organizational structure of the Women’s Consolation Association of Shaanxi, under the influence of the Federation, to determine Li Dingyin (whose husband Sun Wei, Chairman of the Shaanxi provincial government) as the president. There are some communists in as staffs in this comfort, such as such as Li Fuqing、Cao Guanqun、Han Zhongxiu etc. There are six subjects under this comfort, including General, organization, publicity,consolation, recruitment, labor, which works respectively and develop sub-branch in different counties. In order to work better, the Women’s Consolation Association of Shaanxi set up branch in the county. The third part introduces the activities of women’s comfort in eight years (before the reorganization), articles from the advocacy organization, publicity and education, recruitment and reward the three aspects discussed in detail. Part four evaluate the activities of Women’s Consolation Association of Shaanxi and present the influence of those activities towards Shaanxi during the war time. Through research of Women’s Consolation Association of Shaanxi, I believe it has a definite impact to women’s movement in Shaanxi, it promotes shaanxi women’s unification, conform to the development at that times.
