An Anatomy Of Impoliteness In Bulletin Board System(BBS)

BBS（Bulletin Board System）is an important information carrier with distinctive stylisticfeatures. Its language is not only a network of language simplification, but also theembodiment of the true intentions, thus has a larger value to study. In recent years, manyscholars have cast a strong interest in impoliteness and BBS language symbols phenomenon,but very few studies of language in BBS were processed the from impolite angle.The impolite phenomenon in the online forums is the object of study on the relatedpragmatic theories including the face theory and impoliteness theory. In normal circumstances,considering for other people’s face, people will use polite words to express respect to others.However, in some cases, rude words work often as a language strategy, in order to achievesome of their communicative purposes. Impolite words, on the other hand, can both conveyimpolite information and producing the effect of politeness. In certain situations, rude words,not only will not be conveyed to the listener impolite, but will enhance both sides ofcommunication relationships.In different contexts, the positive information hearer receives does not always expressthe blessing of the speaker to the hearer, similarly, the negative information hearer receivesdoes not always express the speaker condemnation of the hearer. The collection, collation andanalysis of data found that people are prone to adopt the manner of the impolite comments toexchange. Through the analysis of impoliteness in BBS, this study reveals the people whythey use impolite strategy more than courtesy, thus provides a new perspective to betterunderstand impoliteness.One of the main significances of this paper is to analyze and expand the functionality ofthe impoliteness, the purpose is to guide people to better understand and interpret theimpoliteness in the online forums, and use the impolite strategy to achieve the purpose of aneffective communication in the right context. This article concludes that impoliteness in thenetwork environment should be properly understood, the conclusion has some inspiration tointerpersonal and communications in a network environment, the listener should be based onthe communication object to select the appropriate words to express or understand the true intentions of the speaker；at the same time, the listener should be the speaker literally meansseparate from the true intentions, to reduce or eliminate unnecessary misunderstandings.
