Listening comprehension is the first step of interpretation. Considering theon-spot pressure, the speaker’s accent and other factors, it might be the mostchallenging part for an interpreter as well. And the author met some listeningcomprehension barriers while interpreting a speech named China Develops aLearning Habit from English to Chinese on the mock conference of ShanghaiForum2012.In this paper, the author firstly explains the uniqueness and importance oflistening comprehension in interpretation. Then, based on a case study of ChinaDevelops a Learning Habit, she analyzes some hurdles in the process of listeningcomprehension and proposes some strategies to overcome those difficulties.The author intends to overcome listening comprehension barriers and improvethe quality of interpretation by analyzing the case and resolving the problems shefaces. Moreover, the author hopes that this paper could shed some light on thosewho have the same problems.
