Wang Ning is not only a prominent literary critic, cultural researcher and comparative literature researcher in contemporary China, but also an indispensable and notable figure in Translation Studies. Since the1990s, Wang Ning has redefined translation as a dynamic cultural interpretation and representation, which effectively promotes the "cultural turn" in Translation Studies. In addition, taking into account the Chinese context, Wang Ning creatively proposes the "translatological turn" in Culture Studies. With such remarkable performances and achievements, Wang Ning makes an indelible contribution to Chinese translation. On the basis of detailed references and systematic study methods, this thesis makes an overall study on Wang Ning’s translation thoughts. Besides, three characteristics of Wang Ning’s translation thoughts can be drawn out:a strong sense of discipline, a broad theoretical vision and the backwash and transcendence of old translation theories and research paradigms. It is maintained in the thesis that Wang Ning’s translation thoughts undoubtedly provide an innovative research paradigm for Chinese translation researchers.
