The Blank Art Of Mini-fiction

The ancient and modern artists were attached the importance of the role of the "blank" inthe artistic creation, so consciously or unconsciously, they used the "blank" in thecreation.In the creation of mini-fiction, as an artistically expressing means for the creativebody, the “blank” tends to endow works with the memorable artistic charm."Blank" in theliterature, also as the text blank with the aesthetic significance, is not absolute, but relativewith the potential meaning. In the literary works, by creating all kinds of uncertainties, thetext blank beckons readers to fill the text with the incomplete information provided by authors.So the reader plays an important role in realization of the art blank.”Blank”，to readers, isthe power to re-create, which on one hand makes readers feel the pleasure of involving in thecreation, on the other hand reflects the vitality of the novel, showing the aesthetic value of"blank" in the literary works.This article is divided into five parts:First, by giving the definition of "blank", this chapter analyses the following threeaspects——the "white space" in the Chinese Classical Paintings, the formulation of the"blank" in Ancient Literature and the illustration of "emptiness" in WesternLiterature,together with an explanation that "blank" art has also been widely used in otherartistic parts especially literary creation. The combination between practice and theorypromotes the development of the "blank" art.Second, as a rising star of the novel art, the mini-fiction has been paid more and moreattention to. At the outset, this chapter gives the definition of the "mini-fiction", and thendiscusses the aesthetic characteristics of the mini-fiction, from which perspective, to explainthat the "mini-fiction" is a kind of art emphasis on "blank”.Third, from the authors’ point of view,"blank” is a kind of technique of expression.According to the features of mini-fiction, consciously or unconsciously, authors use "blank"in the creation.This chapter discusses that symbol, metaphor, deformation, suspense, andsuch means make the micro-fiction generate the charm of the "blank".Fourth, this chapter starting from a text perspective, discourses that "blank" is how to bepresented in the mini-fiction, including the omission of scene and plot, the uncertain outcome,the side description of the character etc.Fifth, from the readers’ point of view, this chapter discusses the aesthetic value of the"blank" in the mini-fiction.
