Figure reco’gnition is an process of actively information samping,samping is the first actual process of figure recognition. The samping strategy has an significant effect on the performance of figure recognition.The advantage of figure to study strategy is that it can avoid the effect of knowledge and phonology.There has been much research of figure recognition,all of them found strategy affect figure recognition,but most of them focus on the strategy of recognition, there are few papers exploring how the strategy of figure recognition under time pressure,so it is necessary to discuss this subject.The stimulus of this research are irregular geometric, line drawing,human faces and Chinese character.Among them, irregular geometric is meaningless;compared with irregular geometric,line drawing is meaningful,it is more complex to process line drawing;compared with line drawing,human faces and Chinese character are more complex,they belong to visual experts of processing.So it is important to explore the eye movements strategy of figure recognition under time pressure.This study includes three experiments. The first experiment used irregular geometric,to study the eye movement strategy of meaningless figure under time pressure. The second experiment used line drawing to explore the eye movement strategy of meaningless figure. The stimuluses of third experiment is more complex, human faces and Chinese character.The main findings and conclusions of the present investigation are as follows:(1) Time pressure has an significant effect on the eye movements strategy of all four types of figures.Under time pressure condition,the average fixtation time and the first fixtation time are largely shorter than no time pressure condition;Under time pressure,the number of fixtations and the average distance are significantly less than no time pressure condition. (2)The performance of the first and second picture presented under same condition is largely higher than different condition.(3)The eye movement samping of the first fixtation time, average fixtation time,the number of fixtation and average distance of human faces are significantly different from the other common objects,and this suggests that the recognition of human faces is unique.(4) The orientation upright or inverted has an significant effect on the number of fixtations of irregular geometric, line drawing and Chinese character,this suggests that the meaning of figures affects figures" spatial samping.(5) On average distance, the main effect of time pressure is significant on all four kinds of figures,that is the average distance of no time pressure condition is largely longer than time pressure condition.
