Study Of College Students’ Death Attitude,Life Meaning,and Their Influence Factors

Understand the current status of college students’death attitude and life meaning, examine the relation between the relevant influence factors and the college students’death attitude and life meaning.Methods We adopt the method of random sampling, use the442college students in4universities in ChangSha as the research object. The death attitude questionnaire, college student life meaning questionnaire, Rosenberger self-respect questionnaire (SES) and inner and outer control character inclination questionnaire were all done in-situ. SPSS17.0analytical software is applied to analyze the data. General description analysis, t examination, single factor variance analysis, multiple comparison (LSD), correlation analysis, multiple linear regression are the main statistical method in the study.Results1. Neutral acceptation sorted first in the college students’ death attitude, followed by the death escape, death fear, approach acceptation, and escape acceptation. There is no obvious difference of the various factors of college students’death attitude between different genders, religion believes and religion piety. Large difference of approach acceptation and dramatic difference of death fear, neutral acceptation, and escape acceptation is found between students with different self-respect; large difference of death escape and dramatic difference of death fear, and escape acceptation is found between students with different character; large difference of death fear and approach acceptation and dramatic difference of escape acceptation is found between students with different death contact experience; large difference of death fear, death escape and neutral acceptation is found between students with different talk experience at home; large difference of death escape is found between students with different reading experience of death related material.2. The general college students’life meaning stand on a fine level. Girls are much better than boys on the aspects of life meaning total score, achievements, social relation, self-exceeding. Students with different health condition have obvious discrepancy on the life meaning total score and other factors except the aspiration and intimacy. There is no obvious discrepancy of the life meaning total score between students with different religion believes and religion piety. Students with different self-respect level show significant difference on the life meaning total score. Students with different character show significant difference on the life meaning total score and other factors, except the social relation and aspiration.3. Correlation between death attitude, life meaning and self-respect, inner and outer control character:negative correlation between self-respect, death fear, death escape, approach acceptation and escape acceptation; positive correlation between inner and outer control character, death fear, approach acceptation; negative correlation between inner and outer control character, death fear, approach acceptation, death escape and life meaning total score; positive correlation between neutral acceptation, self-respect and life meaning total score; genders, health condition, self-respect have certain prediction accuracy on the life meaning; self-respect and inner and outer control character have certain prediction accuracy on the death fear; talk over death scenario, self-respect and life meaning have certain prediction accuracy on neutral acceptation; Discuss the circumstances of death, life meaning, self-respect have certain prediction accuracy on neutral acceptation; talk over death scenario and life meaning have certain prediction accuracy on approach acceptation; health condition, talk over death scenario and life meaning have certain prediction accuracy on escape acceptation.Conclusions1. College students’death attitude comprised mainly of neutral acceptation, followed by death escape, death fear, approach acceptation, escape acceptation.2. College students have a fine life meaning condition.3. Self-respect, death fear, approach acceptation, escape acceptation have positive correlation; self-respect and life meaning total score have positive correlation; inner and outer control character and life meaning score have negative correlation; life meaning and death attitude have strong link with each other, the higher the life meaning, the more neutral to face death, the lower death fear, death escape and death acceptation.4. Genders, health condition, self-respect, inner and outer control character have certain predictive power of life meaning; health condition, talk over death scenario, self-respect, inner and outer control character and life meaning have certain predictive power over death attitude.
