Deng Zhou located in the top of Shandong Peninsula, north Liaodong Peninsula and eastKorean Peninsula. It is like the throat when guarding the Bohai Straits. Miao Dao archipelagois under the jurisdiction of Deng Zhou. Special geography position, make it has outstandingadvantages and acts as bridges between China and Korea in marine traffic. So the Korea’senvoys enter the capital city of Ming Dynasty in the line of Deng Zhou course to pay tributeto China during the Early Ming Dynasty and the late Ming Dynasty. During the Imjin War, amass of provisions, funds, gunpowder and troops were being collected in Deng Zhou in theMing Wanli. Deng Zhou is not only the main base of provisions, funds, munitions andimplements to support the Korea, but also the base camp to train and carry soldiers who willfight in Korea. The perfect "logistics" supplying of Deng Zhou ensure the victory of the ImjinWar. As special geography position of Deng Zhou, thousands of goods and materials fromplace to place are transferred and distributed in here, because Deng Zhou is at the intersectionof the connection between coastal trade towns in south and north of China and KoreanPeninsula. Deng Zhou is the base and passageway of the official trade between China andKorea. Folk businessmen are gathered here. Based on the archaeological excavation, we couldrecover a busy scene of the trade between Deng Zhou and Korea in the Ming Dynasty.Through Deng Zhou, the Korea’s envoys not only build up friendly relationship with localofficials and ordinary people, but also communicate about poetry, sea god worship andcultures and religions with Deng Zhou people. Deng Zhou had made an importantcontribution to enhance friendship and strengthen the culture communication between theChinese and Korean peoples. Deng Zhou as an East door in the Ming Dynasty had played acrucial role in the communication between China and Korea. This paper had clarified thiscrucial role from four aspects: ⅠThe important port in maritime traffic between China andKorea. Ⅱ The bridge tower in the Imjin War to resist Japanese pirates and assist Korea. ⅢThe important commercial port in marine trade between China and Korea.Ⅳ The importantwindow for individuals of China and Korea in culture exchange and contact.At present, the transportation and communications tools had underwent a dramatictransformation compared with the past. Land, sea and air transportation are open. Television,Internet and media etc are prosperous and developed. The form of communication has between China and Korea decidedly shifted. However, it is undeniable that the maritimetraffic is still the best way in transporting bulk cargo. In face of the communication hasbetween China and Korea in the present era, this paper reviewed the important role that theDeng Zhou take part in the communication has between China and Korea during the MingDynasty. It’s goal is to focus on the future, to give Deng Zhou a new development mission, tocontinue to play advantage role of the ports in Yan Tai and Wei Hai in the foreign trade withSouth Korea, to make due contribution to the boom of East Asia economy, to continue toinherit the traditional friendship between China and Korea and to write a new chapter in theeconomic and cultural exchange between China and Korea nowadays.
