| Stravinsky is regarded as one of the famous composers who attract lots of attention in the study of western music, with ballets playing an important role in his creations. He created12ballets in his lifetime. This thesis is targeted on Marriage as a major research object. It took Stravinsky enormous time and energy to create the ballet Marriage. Stravinsky added many new elements into this ballet, so that it have a strong flavor of rural life in Russia. Besides, the composer daringly incorporates chorus, using6groups of percussion instruments and four pianos that paly the tone of percussion instruments match along with the melody of vocal music. In this way, the respiration style of singing used in different voice parts of the chorus was made more conspicuous. Therefore, the ballet Marriage is considered to be unique in the creations of Stravinsky who had opened a new epoch. Such a study on Marriage has a great historical and realistic significance.The present study can be divided into five parts. The first part deals with the emergence and development of ballets, introducing the developing and changing process of ballets. The second part introduces the composer Stravinsky, mainly analyzing his life and work. In the third part, the author mainly talks about the ballet Marriage, giving a detailed and in-depth analysis about it from different aspects such as the social background, humanistic environment, musical creation and choreography. The fourth part presents the historic significance of Marriage and its enlightment for the present artistic creation, firstly the author analyzes it from historical background and sums up its historical significance, then looking forward to the future, the author perceives its implications for the present artistic creation. The fifth part is conclusion. In this part, the author first synthetically evaluate the artistic value and research value of Marriage, and then move on to the existing problems in the research of the history of western music in China, finally put forward his own opinions and suggestions.Based on studies about the above problems, we gain a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the ballet creation of Stravinsky, and gain a more accurate understanding of the development course and developing direction of ballet. |
