There are adjectival suffixes in both English and Korean, and these suffixes are able to compose derived adjectives. This paper compares English and Korean derived adjectives from morphological and semantic aspects. From the contrastive study of English and Korean derived adjectives, this paper draws the conclusions as below:(1) Although English have more adjectival suffixes(33) than Korean(19), English derived adjectives (2513) are fewer than Korean derived adjectives (3750).(2) From the perspective of combination with roots, both English and Korean adjectival suffixes can be added to the nominal, verbal, adjectival, and adverbial roots. However, English adjectival suffixes can be added to the prepositional and numeral roots, while Korean adjectival suffixes can be also added to the guanxingci roots as well.(3) From the perspective of characteristic of word formation, when adjectival suffixes are added to the roots, both of English and Korean derived adjectives go through morphological changes, letteral addition and letteral change.(4) Combination of adjectival suffixes and roots can produce derived adjectives with various kinds of semantic content. From the contrastive study of derived adjectives, this paper concludes that,"CHARACTER”、"CHARACTERISTIC”、"PSYCHOLOGY","SENSORY","NATURE","COLOUR" are common sementic contents of English and Korean derived adjectives, and there are also some uncommon semantic contents between them. English adjectival suffixes can compose derived adjectives with semantic contents of "STYLE","COUNTRY","ABILITY""FREQUENCY","NAGATIVE”、"DIRECTION","MULTIPLE","MATERIAL"; while Korean adjectival suffixes can compose derived adjectives with semantic content of "DEGREE".
