Along with frequent political, economic and cultural exchanges between countries in the world, interpreting has contributed greatly as a bridge linking people speaking different languages for successful communications. An enormous number of language talents are inclined to take interpretation as their life career, and more and more experts on translation have shifted their attention to the field of interpreting. Interpreters, the key performers in intercultural communication, are playing a significant role in helping different nations overcome language obstacles.As is known, interpreting is a complicated cognitive and psychological process consisting of different interactive stages and in each stage there will be certain difficulties and obstacles. As a result, in order to ensure a successful delivery of interpretation, the interpreter must possess high professional qualities. As interpreting differs from oral language or translation, it has specific requirements of interpreters; as the teaching of interpreting differs from that of language and translation, the quality cultivation and skill training for interpreters should be based on the features of interpreting.According to the above-mentioned, the author tries to propose some interpreting strategies and skills for the quality cultivation for interpreters from the perspective of interpreting process (namely comprehension, memorization and re-expression) and on the basis of the Quality Model concluded by the author.The thesis consists of six chapters:the introduction part reviews studies on interpreting and interpreting process; chapter1first makes an introduction to interpreting in general by its definition and classification, then introduces respectively the Effort Models and the Xia Da Model, and by comparing and analyzing the two models the author later concludes her own model of interpreting process-the Quality Model; according to this model, chapter2aims at the quality cultivation for interpreters in comprehension. In this chapter, the author first presents Gile’s comprehension equation and then discusses requirements and cultivation of the interpreters’linguistic, extra-linguistic and logic analysis qualities; chapter3aims at the quality cultivation for interpreters in memorization and describes the memory system in interpreting, factors affecting memorization and memorizing strategies and skill trainings; chapter4aims at the last stage of interpreting process-re-expression stage and also involves interpreters’linguistic and extra-linguistic skills for re-expression; the last chapter is left for conclusion to make a summary of this thesis and provide suggestions for further study.
