Basic music theory and solfeggio, as two basic subjects of music theory, whose nature and teaching purpose are to develop students’ ability of musical aesthetic judgment, and are not merely instrumental courses. There are many links between these two courses, which penetrate and promote each other. Years of separated teaching let these two courses lose the fundamental significance gradually, the boredom of theory lower students’ interest in learning, and solfeggio, as a skills course, also become an instrumental course of students to read musical notation. The proposing of new curriculum reformation merges these two courses into a basic music subject, which simultaneously teaches theories and skills to make students learn Solfeggio in the support of the theory of logic and methods.In this paper, with the study of two teaching materials and the integrated model of teaching, and the demonstration of data from the surveys of some pilot colleges, the rationality and scientificalness of curriculum integration are discussed, and some suggestions of teaching content and methods are presented. This paper is divided into six chapters:Chapter one:an overview of the concepts and teaching characteristics of the basic music theory and solfeggio.Chapter two:an Exposition of the meaning of curriculum integration.Chapter three:an elaboration of the rationality of integrated teaching and some existing shortages of content, based on the research of two teaching materials.These two textbooks, which is currently the most popular books in curriculum integration, are relatively reasonable from content to teaching methods on the position of integrated teaching.Chapter four:a discussion of implementation process of the curriculum integration, including teaching methods and means.Chapter five:an objective analysis on the status and effect on the integrated teaching, through the questionaire issued by Fujian Normal University.Chapter six:a statement of the advantages and disadvantages of integrated teaching through above studies.The integration of basic music has some shortcomings in the stage of development, but overall, it makes up many deficiencies of monosubject teaching, such as to combine theory with practice and engage students in joining with teachers, to give full play to the teacher-oriented and student-centred instructional design, to penetrate basic knowledge and basic skills mutually, to improve students’ basic quality of music and promote the development of the basic disciplines,and to complete the teaching mission more effectively and achieve the educational purpose.
