Research On Historical Ransportation Geography Of Shangjin

Shanjin is a small town,which is located in northwest of Yunxi county in Hubei province, in2007she was evaluated Famous Town of National Historical and Cultural. From the capital of state and prefecture in history to today’s small town in northwest of Hubei province, Shangjin has experienced flourishing and decay, and all this closely related to its traffic location. This paper try to explore the mechanism of the rise and decline by comb the traffic history of Shangjin. Hope for this work can provide historical basis for protection and utilization for the Historical and Cultural villages of traffic type.In this paper, the pectination roughly on traffic historical of Shangjin as follows:About the traffic of Shangjin, it lack of recorded before Wei and Jin Dynastys, we can only use the archaeological findings to infer the traffic situation of Shangjin from ancient times to the Han Dynasty. By large quantities of cultural heritage in Jinqian river basin and Han river coast,we can assume that from ancient times to the Han Dynasty there should be traffic lines exist from Jinqian river to Han river.In the Wei,Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties, Shangjin was near the border of north and south regimes, its administrative membership and administrative level changed frequently, the significance of military traffic of Shangjin gradually revealed. In the Tang Dynasty, the shortcut from Jiangnan to changan should passby Shangjin. After middle of the Tang Dynasty, An Shi Rebellion and Fanzhen regime make the oriental water transport and Wuguan-Lantian way obstructd.The government had opend Shangjin Road to transport materials from Jianghuai to Changan, Shangjin was became the transit center of north and south.After the Tang dynasty, due to the political center was transferd the traffic status of Shangjin began to drop, but in the wars between Song y and Jin Dynastys and between Song and Yuan Dynastys, the military traffic status in Shangjin appeared again. The army of the Jin Dynasty several times intruded Jinzhou (Today Shanxi Ankang) of the Southern Song Dynasty passby Shangjin, many battles happended in Shangjin between the two sides. At the end of Southern Song Dynasty Mongol forces also passby Shangjin to attack Xiangyang. In the Ming and qing dynasties Shanjin is no longer border military keys, and far away from the political center, it became one of the weakest link in the rule of the feudal, so many peasant uprising moving and accumulation around Shangjin.In modern times, the folk commercial rise, Shangjin became regional commercial town, the water transportation once boomed. Since the establishment of China, the rapid development of the highway traffic had made the water transport stoped in Shangjin, highway become the main traffic. Enter the new century, the construction of expressway development rapidly in China, the Fuyin expressway passby Shangjin, that injects new vitality on economic development of Shangjin.
