A Study On Parody In Newspaper Headlines

Newspaper headlines in the news report play an important role, An ingenious useof rhetoric, can make the title vivid, novel and interesting, and cause the reading interestof the readers. In virtue of parody in newspaper headlines with aesthetic effect that canmake familiarness become strangeness, make vapidity become novelty, and it is alsobecause of the efficient communication brought by parody in newspaper headlines, Sothe use of parody has won the favor of news disseminator, and In recent years, Parodyhas been widely used in news headlines.This paper use the “West China Metropolis Daily”(released from January1,2008to June30,2011) as the source material, collect the corpus according to the conditions(Contains parody in news headlines) count up to1739. On the basis of this precondition,this paper links news communication and rhetoric theory with examples of corpus toanalyze and discuss.The text is divided into four chapters. Chapter1is a preface, includes thedefinition of parody, the principle of making news headlines, the research significance,research status,research ideas and research methods of this topic.And discussed theenactment and the analysis method of corpus; Chapter2focuses on the classification ofnews headlines which contains parody, classify and analyze the corpus from differentpoint of view includes the form of parody, the nature of parody, the significance ofparody and the relationship of parody. In chapter3, The author based on the method ofprobability calculation and the method of qualitative analysis, Summed up the maincharacteristics of the application of parody from the inditement of “West ChinaMetropolis Daily”,and analysis the attractive force from the audiences and the efficientcommunication which from the use of parody; Chapter4is the conclusion,Summarized the text and pointed out the problem that need further study In this paper.
