A Research Of Cai Xiang’s Poetry Theory

Cai Xiang is one of the four famous calligraphers in Song Dynasty, and Zhu Xi oncepraised him like this:“He had deep knowledge and he is ambitious; he always statedarguments, and be responsible even if at outside; he is very loyal, often used poetry to expresstheir views; Wan’an has a monument to commemorate his merit; his Regular script andCursive are all unique; his articles can be spread through the ages, his poetry attracted theattention of many foreigners; when talked about his lychee spectrum, the other fruits are notranked on the team; also integrity than that the Ouyang Xiu, and his poem is pure and flawless;his achievements is important in Huangyou years, and he died in Chunxi years.” It can beseen that Cai Xiang’s life is a lot of achievements. In addition to calligraphy, his political andarticles are the people to admire. From the literary point of view, as a poet, his contribution isimportant in the early Northern Song Dynasty. There were a lot of poets in imitation of theancients. Although imitation of some of the classics is a good, they did not show their owncharacteristics. Cai Xiang believed that efforts should be made to their development, and thisis consistent with the characteristics of the times. It can be said Cai Xiang is a pioneer leadingthe poems from the Tang Dynasty to Song Dynasty.
