| The Romance of the Hairpin is one of the four Southern Operas. It is also veryimportant in the development of history of Chinese opera, which is loved by the audiencetoday. It is usually shown on the stage nowadays. Based on The Romance of the Hairpin,this paper focuses on the text and performance to research its object and artistic value. Thefull text divides into three chapters. The first chapter resolved several problems, such as thedevelopment of the story, reason of creation, the author and versions, etc. The secondchapter analyzes characters of The Romance of the Hairpin, and summarizes the style of it.The third chapter focuses on the stage spread by researching performance records. Thischapter analyzes some excerpts showed on Kunqu stage, and analyzed the performance bycomparing with other local dramas. |
