The Study In The Reflection Of Enlightening The Modernity Of Idiots

Idiots is an important turning point during Dostoevsky’s entire writing process and the critical review of enlightening the modernity is the principal axis that goes through the content. This paper discusses how Dostoevsky response to the disadvantages of enlightening modernity and explore options of "Russian road" in Idiots from perspectives of structure and content. The critical review of Idiots enlightening the modernity that the article talks about has manifested itself mainly in three aspects:the Russians imbibe and apply the enlightening, people’s circumstances under the plan of enlightening and how the artistic creations give expressions of reflection. The article divides into three chapters together.The first chapter has mainly analyzed the overall outlook of Russian after entering modern world in Idiots. Dostoevsky’s works face the Russian social reality. When European modernism rolls up, Dostoevsky exams and criticizes it clearly. The Idiots represents aspirations of Russians who are standing at the crossing road and at the same time, they enter the crisis of dilemma.The second chapter draws on the reflections of people’s circumstances and the development of Russian in Idiots. The authors believes that reflections are mainly tool rationality materializes the world of humankind, but has immense limitation because people’s lives cannot be calculated just like mathematical formulas and rational worship leads to the declination of beliefs. This paper argues that the Idiots reflection on the people’s circumstances and in order to achieve the exploration of the "Russian road". The author focuses on the entire conditions of humanity, looks at connections of modern people and the world from men’s own experience and feelings, and comes to the conclusion that the use of rationality to the utmost brings about illness and fear to human’s lives.The third chapter analyzes characteristic traits of Idiots. The author believes the aspects have manifested themselves mainly in the construction of structure by "large-scale dialogue" and "mini-dialogue" and groups of people with split personalities reveal the coexistence between rationality and irrationality, subverting the principle of "rationality dominate everything" through romantic irony. Dostoevsky realizes the critical review of enlightening modernity through the combination of form and content.In the end, the paper analyzes the reasons why Idiots presents a critical review of enlightening the modernity from subjective and objective perspectives, points out the significance of the review and summarizes a impersonal and correct attitude we should have when we encounter the modernity.
