The goal of education is to promote integrated development of every single student, and fostering emotional attitude and values is of great importance during it. Since traditional geography class overemphasizes the role of cognition in study rather than that of emotional attitude and values, consequently, teaching activities accordingly are supposed to be confined to the realm of cognitive. Corresponding curriculum design deprived of emotions is so sensible that students are likely to be bored with this subject, what’s worse, accompanying fear and dismay even drive their interest away. Therefore, geography curriculum should aim at realization of "Three Dimensional Goals", that is, to take all the factors of knowledge, skill, process, method, emotional attitude and values into consideration. The new curriculum view gives a novel insight into affective factors, attaching great importance to its value orientation achieved in course objectives. Besides, it represents the well-known teaching philosophy, nurturing fully developed individual, to its best. Likewise, it can make for overall and balanced formation in students’ cognition, feeling, volition and behavior. Although much progress has been made in latest study of emotional attitude and values, some problems are still in need of contemplating. For example, how to deepen the understanding of goals, how to relate to the content of teaching materials in terms of the above goals, how to implement the course and make evaluation accordingly, etc.The thesis is mainly based on High School Geography Curriculum Standard. The basic theories of pedagogy, psychology, geography teaching and sustainable development are utilized. The methodology adopted in the research, which is characteristic of qualitative and quantitative research, includes documentary, induction, survey, and so forth. This thesis consists of following parts:1) The connotation and course content with emotional attitude and values;2) the status quo of realization of these goals;3) the strategy of fostering emotional attitude and values in geography class;4) the application of emotional attitude and values in geography teaching. Therefore, according to the results of previous researches, we put forward the strategies and principles of nurturing emotional attitude and values through an analysis of development process of the goals in geography instruction. Abiding by the principles of implicitly, dependence, compositionality and repeatability, the primary strategies of nurturing emotional attitude and values in geography contains:respecting the individuality and promoting experience; establishing scenarios and connecting knowledge with daily life; encouraging inquiry and proposing experience tasks. The thesis intends to apply the above strategies and principles into teaching practice. We try to implement geography teaching of emotional attitude and values by means of several teaching methods related to orientation of life, activity and case. The training and cultivation of emotional attitude and values can not be accomplished overnight, and it calls for long-term, consistent and systematic teaching. Hence, it’s demanding to conduct a overall study on them meanwhile optimize training strategies and evaluation standards with the guidance of relevant theories.
