From ancient time to nowadays, kinship terms have been the marks in thesocial and family communications, and they are the beginnings for us tounderstand the social life. The number of kinship terms and their changing trackscan directly reflect the affinities between people within a nation, as well as its folkculture. Zhuang kinship term is a relatively stable part of the vocabulary in theZhuang language, as well as the essential vocabulary in the social life. From thestudy of the Zhuang kinship term by exploring its changing, and then combine thefactors such as the cultural customs into account, we can find out the wholestructure and functions of the Zhuang culture. This thesis has its main study on theZhuang kinship terms in Guangxi Mulei Tuen, Yong’an village, HuanjiangLuoyang Town, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, by means of linguisticresearch methodology into the systematic analysis so as to reveal the culturaldetails implied in the Zhuang kinship terms about relatives. Firstly, this thesishackles the system of kinship terms in this area, and then it has a detailed inquiryinto their complicated uses and gives the explanation of their meanings; finally, itanalyzes the cultural connotations behind those terms. In this paper, the studymethods include a combination of culture and language, comparative analysis and semantic analysis.This thesis is divided into the following four parts:The introduction mainly focuses on the meanings of studying the Zhuangkinship terms, the characteristics, methodologies and resources of the materials ofthe study.The second part mainly introduces the pronunciations, vocabularies and theircharacteristics of the Zhuang kinship terms.The third part mainly explores the procedures of those Zhuang kinship terms,and studies the cultural details implied in them.And the last part is the conclusion.
