The talents trained by industrial design education in college couldn’t well meet social needsand the requirements of companies, and students who were fostered through traditionalclassroom teaching methods lack of capabilities of knowledge application, design and innovation.Besides, another reason why the practical teaching system is not in line with the society andcompanies is that functions of industrial design in products values are not appreciated fully bythe companies. Thus it is quite necessary for the sustainable development of college, society andcompanies to reform the traditional teaching model of industrial design education and to fostertalents in need.Based on structuralism theory, this thesis discussed instructional design on working studioteaching whose decisive factors are specialty, teaching features and developed requirements.Working studio teaching regards the actual project as a platform and appoints experts incompanies and teachers to be responsible for teaching and instruction during the practicalprocess of the project in order to fulfill the teaching task. The author did an experiment amongindustrial design majors in a college by adopting working studio teaching model, and made acomparison with the controlled class, the author also analyzed and compared the results ofexperimental class with the results before the experiment. Aimed at the weakness of workingstudio teaching model at present, the author provided an innovative design of working studioteaching model and mentioned the necessity of sustainable development on the basis of analysisand researches of self-development and teaching model reformation in colleges.Through design studio 10201experimental class design, to practice. In the "product designstudio display design" as the project of teaching tasks, and projects through division of labor andimplement. Finally, make the teaching results in the form of products. Use student evaluation ofteaching form and teacher comments evaluation as a standard, in addition, teaching and researchwill be another evaluation standard.Working studio teaching model is a reform of the old one, it facilitates students’interestsin autonomous learning and optimized for educational resources, and it is helpful for bothteachers and students to improve their integrated design skills. On the other hand, products haveachieved economic benefits in market; students are capable of innovative design, practicaloperation, teamwork and sales, which accomplished the teaching tasks with companies and society involved. The sustainable development of working studio teaching model is meaningfulfor reformation of teaching models in college, as well as other majors and fields.
