The Research Of Etiquettes In The Analects Of Confucius

There are many old etiquettes which are difficult to understand in the Analects of Confucius during the the Pre-Qin Period.In which,such as Gao shuo ceremony、Zhu pi ceremony、Dao ji ceremony and San nian sang ceremony are the most hot topics among historians.The Gao shuo ceremony was an important etiquette during the Pre-Qin Period.The smooth development of it can ensure the hole countrys prosperous on both politic affairs and agricultural production.But Gao shuo ceremony began to be demolished after the duck Wen of Lu.The Gao shuo ceremony was not only the token of the emperors authority,but also the indispensable part of peoples life.Consequently,Confucius wished to protect this etiquette.The meaning of Zhu pi ceremony varied differently with the development of She li.As a result,there were different interpretions in Zhou Li and Yi Li.Confucius put much emphasize on She li during everyday teaching.And he made the common people also could learn She li which could only be learned by the nobleman.The Dao ji etiquette was a very common ceremony which was popular among people in the Pre-Qin period.Its popularity indicated peoples wordship of the ghosts and gods.Although Confucius did not have blind faith in this and laid more emphasis on virtue,in consideration of the social reality,he did not reject offering sacrifices to ghosts or ancestors.On the contrary,he underlined the core thoughts of the Confucianists.So the common people were unconsciously influenced by the Confucianists thought.The San nian sang etiquette was hard to continue among people as it gone to the end of the spring and autumn period.But Confucius still adhered to it and emphasized on the showing of esteem to the late relatives.He declared the importance of benevolence in order to make people have a more moderate attitude between emotion and etiquette.The etiquettes may vanish in the movement of time,but the benevolence and filial piety in it will stay forever. We can know the Analects of Confucius more clearly through the above research,and also can know better about the significance of the innovation on the old etiquette which made by Confucius under the circumstances of reform.
