| The journal of Guo Wen Yue Kan (Monthly Magazine of Chinese Language and Literature) was established and published by College of Liberal Arts and Teachers College of the Southwest Associated University in1940s, which provided a series of essays and dissertations about the education of Chinese language and literature of wide influences. Meanwhile, it was also a precious material of Chinese educational history in conceptual term. This dissertation aims to systematically arranging Guo Wen Yue Kan in both practical and theoretical terms by the analysis of the perspective of related debates:contemporary Chinese level, the teaching of traditional and modern Chinese, the organization of textbooks, etc; and to explore3main conflicts between cultural continuation and refreshment, instrumental and practical ends, modern literature and Chinese education, including linking historical view with contemporary concerns by providing a historical "looking-glass self"... |
