The publication of the book "Stories of the Chinese-Intensive Audiovisual and Reading Course of Intermediate Chinese" has introduced the "the Intensive Audiovisual and Reading Course" teaching concept. Intensive Audiovisual and Reading Course represents the new teaching materials and methods. It transforms non-restricted video materials concerning Chinese people into restricted video materials that are controlled in difficulty level and presented in a progressive manner. Intensive reading is introduced by audiovisual means, which can deepen students’ understanding of the content of the text. Questionnaires and interviews has shown that: Audiovisual means to learn the Chinese language are generally recognized by students and teachers.students and teachers are pleased to be applied to the integrated audiovisual means of teaching intensive reading, it extends language learning of the class. Therefore, the Intensive Audiovisual and Reading Course basically meets the needs of teachers and students, it’s a good way to train students’comprehensive ability. This paper discusses the Teaching Methods and Materials and analyzes the Teacher’s Roles of the Intensive Audiovisual and Reading Course.Through research, we have recognized that it is a fusion of a variety of essential and integrated methods in the teaching process, and a flexible combination of various teaching approaches. Especially the development of audiovisual teaching directly spawned the Intensive Audiovisual and Reading Course. "Stories of the Chinese-Intensive Audiovisual and Reading Course of Intermediate Chinese " a combination of audiovisual and reading, with a careful design and layout, are not only to retain the advantages of video materials, but also to overcome the shortcomings of the original video materials. Students can learn intensive and comprehensive knowledge and skills. It is a great example for the future success of the preparation of materials for further exploration as intensive reading and improvement of the delivery of lessons. For the Intensive Audiovisual and Reading Course, teachers are required to adjust the change of the teaching methods in the class and guide the students outside the class. Hardware and software conditions may cause some difficulties in the implementation process, but the Intensive Audiovisual and Reading Course is a challenge and opportunities for us as well as indeed feasible and worth promoting.
