Abstract/Summary:
Communication strategies play an important role in L2 communication. Communicationstrategies can be employed to remedy linguistic deficiencies and overcome the difficulties ofcommunication. Many scholars have studied this subject, but most of the studies focus on oralcommunication strategies. As a matter of fact, some scholars at home and abroad have advocatedthe studies of CSs used in written communication and some studies on this subject have beenconducted. However, these studies are not systematic and sufficient. In addition, writtencommunication is an important form of L2 communication. Learners are bound to use CSs inwritten communication because of lack of L2 linguistic competence. Thus, studies of writtencommunication are of great importance to CS studies and L2 teaching. The thesis will make a study and discussion about college students’(non-English majors’)communication strategies in English writing.
