Huizhou Mulian Opera, which is the oldest type of opera in China, is called the ancestor and living fossil of Chinese opera. Based on the investigation of the opera in the field, this thesis which adopts Trebling Evidence Method, including documents, historical relics, field materials adviser, makes a deep study on Huizhou Mulian Opera, in terms of anthropology, folk culture and multi-frequency.Firstly, this thesis aims at the origin of Huizhou Mulian Opera. This history of Mulian Opera, together with the whole later period of Chinese feudalistic society, experienced Song, Yuan, Ming, Qing Dynasty and becomes a special kind of opera in Chinese opera long history.Secondly, this thesis conducts a study on Huizhou Mulian Opera everywhere. There is Mulian Opera in Qimen, including Limu Village, Mashan Village and Lixi Village; there is Mulian Opera in Changgai Town Shaokeng Village, Changbiao Town Changbiao Village; there are Mulian Opera in Shitai Town Languan Village and Dayan Town Yanxi Village.Thirdly, based on an overall survey on Huizhou Mulian Opera, this thesis conducts an overall investigation on the play pattern of Mulian.Last but not the least, this thesis deeply discusses the relationship between Huizhou Mulian Opera a Huizhou culture. They influence each other a lot, for example, the performance of Huizhou Mulian Opera has a great influence on Huizhou folk, and meanwhile, Huizhou Mulian Opera reflects a lot of Huizhou fork while putting on. Huizhou Mulian Opera is connected to the religious culture of Huizhou, no matter what the aim of the performance is, drive the disaster away, exorcise evil spirit or pray, the beneficial owner is the whole family. Huizhou Mulian Opera is the essence of the spirit of the traditional culture. The connotation of Mulian Opera conveyed is philosophy in Huizhou culture, including Neo-Confucianism or New Rationalism epitome. By forms of operas, people in Huizhou loving to see and hear, broadcast loyalty, filial piety, chastity and righteousness which are provided by Rationalism.
