Under the influence of the Industrial Revolution, western modern art has developedrapidly and produced a wealth of modern art forms. Integral part of modern ceramics asan important modern art,she has a high degree of consistency with modern art in thecreative concept and technique of expression. Accepting the ideas of modern art,ceramics truly with a "modern" character. In the early1980s, modern ceramics began tosprout in China. After the development phasea of a blind imitation of the western artforms, Chinese artists gradually realize the cultural connotation and national importancein the modern pottery art, and begin to pay close attention to Chinese traditionalculture.China has a long history of development of civilization, leaving behind a richtradition of cultural heritage, and these laid a solid cultural foundation for thedevelopment of modern ceramics in China. The traditional image is prominentmanifestations in the traditional Chinese art. She accompanied the process ofdevelopment of Chinese art, with profound national culture connotation, reflecting theunique aesthetic ideals of the Chinese nation. The folk art is an important component ofChinese traditional arts. Folk artists with a dynamic understanding of attitudes,put theobjective world into the order of the subjective ideas, leting the reality of thingsre-constructed in accordance with the subjective will. In this paper, through the analysisof the meaning of image and the use of traditional imagery in the folk art, study ofChinese traditional image on the impact of modern ceramic art. By describing the fit oftraditional imagery and modern ceramics in the form of creation thinking andperformance, combined with Chinese modern ceramic works, descripting the rationalityof traditional imagery involved in the rationality of modern ceramics.
