| Idiom is the treasure of Chinese culture. It is the marrow of Chinese language whichcarries the splendid culture and long history. So the teaching of idiom inevitably becomesan important part of Chinese education of foreign students. But when they are attracted bythe brilliant culture and history knowledge, foreign students always hesitate to use idiomsbecause of the complex meaning and grammar, and tend to adopt the avoidance strategy incommunication.As an important and difficult point of Chinese vocabulary, the teaching result of idiomis not so ideal, and during the learning process, foreign students make many errors. So forthe better teaching activities of idiom, the author summarizes the types of errors byanalyzing the idiom errors and explores the reasons which result in the using errors. At thesame time, the author puts forward some teaching suggestions with the hope of doing somehelp to idiom teaching and the foreign students’ idiom learning.The paper contains four parts. The first part is the overview of Chinese idiom,containing the meaning, the origin, the characters and the usage of idiom. The second partsorts out the errors by analyzing them. The third part analyses the reasons of errors fromouter and internal parts. The last part makes some suggestions to the teaching of idiom. |
