In the modern art of China, we have discovered a phenomenon. No matter in form or content, ugliness becomes an important description object. And also the ugliness becomes the topic object that more and more artists and the public people talk about. Why does checking the ugliness become be concentrated that even is a fashion of the public? There are profound social reasons. At the same time, it is related to the artists themselves and the public. The artists show contradictories between people and people as well as people and the society in the world by expressing the ugliness; however the public get their needs by checking the ugliness. Besides, The Chinese contemporary prints which as one of the art is also changing with the transformation of the society. Because of the acceptance level’s differences of people, therefore, there are many disputes no matter in the art or among the comments of the public. As for the comments of ugliness, there are two sounds:Commendatory and derogatory. What is the fundamental reason?How do we correctly separate the art of ugliness from ugliness art to definite the real aesthetic value of the ugliness art and the social meaning? So it’s important to definite the art Concept of ugliness with modern social features. Meantime, it provides a better interpretation for "Why a large number of’ugly’prints emerge" in creation of printmaking as the perspective of present "80-90".The article briefly expound "ugly" highlight in Chinese contemporary printmaking creation from three parts.The first chapter defines the "ugly" in Chinese contemporary context, through understanding the nature of the ugly, the dialectical relations between ugly and beauty and a correct understanding of ugly in the contemporary context.Through the different discussion of the ugly and the definition of ugly in the art of painting, it lets people can make a correct discrimination of the art of "ugly" and the "ugly art". Therefore, people can have a better understanding of the aesthetic category of ugly in the contemporary development.The second chapter firstly through comparing the traditional prints of old artists and the breakthrough of prints of young artists, briefly combs the evolution of the ugly germination in Chinese contemporary printmaking creation, then analyses the typical form of the art works of ugly in the perspective of "80-90" young prints authors. AS the promising youngsters in the new era of prints, they use what kind of perspective through print form to reflect today’s reality social contradictions, to arouse public sympathy.What kind of force that pushes them to do some works etc.The third chapter analyses the reasons of judging ugliness as the focus and upsurge in the society, the author uses the two points of the popular fashion and real life self refraction. The influence factors are divided into internal and external factors. The external causes are the development of social economy, the public media dissemination, plenty of leisure time and other factors led to the social psychology and art taste changes. The internal causes are the public psychological changes and so on. Through these analysis and dialectic, we can draw the conclusion:the ugly art in the contemporary art has appeared inevitably.The last part points out the aesthetic value of ugly in the development of Chinese contemporary art of printings, further indicates that the ugly art in the contemporary effects, aesthetic value and social significance...
