The book Huai-nan Tzu, abundant in content and comprehensively organized, is an ancient classicdominated by Taoism thinking and mixed with ideals from other schools like Ru、Mo、Fa、Ming、Bing、Yingyang and Zongheng. Its artistic conception is lofty, style is free, illustration is thorough, and structureis concise. It is not only a profound philosophical ideas, is also a in literature has important influence on theworks of prose.This essay begins with the general description of arguments which include the usage of myths, fablesand historical phenomena in Huai-nan Tzu and this essay mainly deals with the research of the historicalphenomena. Historical phenomena are frequently used to support his ideas in Huai-nan Tzu on a basis ofnumerous real historical events and figures. There are four parts in this essay.In the first part, an analysis of theoretical construction and arguments of Huai-nan Tzu is made. Firstthe inner structure is conscientiously organized in Huai-nan Tzu; second, arguments including myths,fables and historical phenomena are explained; finally, a brief analysis is made to explore how theinter-relationship between inner structure and arguments influence the literary style of Huai-nan Tzu.In the second part, analyses about historical phenomena are made. First, historical phenomena aredivided into two major aspects—event phenomena and figure phenomena—to expound how they influencethe literary style of Huai-nan Tzu; second, historical phenomena are divided into historical phenomenacombined with myths and ones combined with fables to further explain the influence.In the third part, the analysis focuses on event phenomena. First, the origins of event phenomena—historical records and works of scholars of various thoughts enormously apply historical phenomena andstrengthen its historic and cultural connotation; second, a research about the ideological value within eventphenomena; and finally, a conclusion is drawn about the narrative art of historical phenomena.The fourth part concentrates on figure phenomena. First, different types of figures are categorized:person with Taoist thoughts and person without Taoist thoughts from the perspective of characteristics; andtheir images are also categorized: the monarch and his subjects, scholars and laboring masses, whichdemonstrates the tight relationship between figure phenomena and the general Taoist thoughts depicted in Huai-nan Tzu; second, a preliminary study about the ideological inclination of these figures; finally, aconcise summary about the description of these figures is drawn.
