As the wave of commercialization sweeping across the globe, people havebegun pursuing the largest profit. Various areas of social production have beengoing industrialized and carrying out industrialized operation. Accordingly, animation industry has emerged at such a historic moment. The large population has provided China with a huge consuming market inthe domain of animation industry. However, China’s animation industry remainsmired in a deep malaise because of the occupation of the foreign animation. Thereason for this mainly lies on the weakness and deficiency of animation industrychain.Through the research of the starting point of the animation industry chain,“comic--film”, this paper endeavors to obtain the method model of China’scomic adaptation so as to promote the sound development of the animationindustry. The project will start with the “commonsense” and “individuality” of comicfilms, combine with successful adaptations, and do relevant analysis. Both of comic and film are recently developed entertainment forms. Beingthe art of attracting people’s eyes, they bear the same entertaining cores, and theyare the favorites in the age of “picture reading” and the representatives ofcontemporary fast-food culture. The combination of comic and film is also themerge of commercialization and art.The adaptation of comic into film pushes the mass production of the comicand film industry and promotes the industrialization of art. The creation of acomic will also make a brand and a chain come into being. In recent years, China puts more and more attention in the development ofthe creative and cultural industries. That is why comic, cartoon, and film have aprofound development within their own area. The overall feature is that they aremore art than commerce, making China’s animation industry not conform to themarket, remain at the unmechanized workshop stage, and not achieveindustrialization. The period from creation to release marks the exhaustion of acomic’s values. The adaptation of comic into film can not only broaden the selection range of film works, but can prolong the comic’s brand value and makeextra profits as well.An overall view of the world animation market tells us that successfulcomics have a very similar industry model,“comic—film—animationderivative”. Unfortunately, China has lost the crucial beginning sector. Thebroken industry chain make China’s animation cannot be industrialized, whichcauses this industry very weak. Thereby, to advance our country’s animationindustry shall be from the completeness of the industry chain. However, theadvancement does not mean that we should copy other countries’ model blindly.Instead, it is a wise choice to search a proper way based on China’s realsituations.Japan and the U.S. have already developed a quite mature animationindustry. Compared to that, China lags behind in the originality, for on one handchina lacks professional talents, on the other hand China’s comic creation is veryindividual instead of team work. Although the creation period of comics is verylong, the fruits are quite few. It is extremely difficult to utilize the availablecomic resources to develop into films, and it is not feasible. Currently, China hasa wide popularity of television, a huge audience, and rich television resources. All these advantages provide China with a huge potential market. If we put asideall formality, reverse the industry chain boldly, and use television plays to fill thegap of the original comics, it should be a suitable way to innovate China’sanimation industry. The innovation point of this project also lies here. To bemore exact, that is how to make the cooperation of comic and film promote thedevelopment of the whole animation industry in order to seek a win-winsituation of comic and film, which lies the significance of the study of thisproject.
