| Color is one of the important forms of language to convey the spirit of art in painting, it is neither just the discovery and creation of the beauty color, nor the modeling factor that attached to the surface of pictures, it is the collision and fusion between the artists’hearts and the color on canvases. Female were always considered to be more sensitive than male, so dose their color sense. In the1990s, some Chinese women painters choose monochrome which seems like some kind of simple manifestation mode for different reasons and formed their unique painting language and becomes a distinctive art phenomenon, which can’t be overlooked even though such phenomenon haven’t become a prominent group or school, while their exploration provide a possibility for the creation and thinking of subsequent female artists. This paper attempts to proceed with the style of the works of Chinese women painters in the1990s, with its characteristics of monochrome phenomenon as the starting point, to define the monochromatization at first. Then, take the era background and special context into account so as to analyze the root causes, comb the monochrome works of Chinese women painters with the help of principles of color psychology and aesthetics to analyze the individual case, so as to mainly explain the richness and inherent aesthetic value behind the phenomenonof monochrome works.By studying the monochrome phenomenon in the works of Chinese women painters in1990s, with aims to take the perspective of development to concern China’s contemporary women’s art features, while such concern is beneficial to present the richness of the development of Chinese oil paintings, and to look upon the future tendency of Chinese contemporary female art with a constructive attitude. |
