This paper attempts to recall the history of the incarceration of mainland Japanese Americans during World WarⅡ,and pay great attention on the settling of the internment camp and the camp life of the Japanese Americans,and make proper appraise on the internment camp.There are five parts in this paper, such as introduction, main body, conclusion, appendix and reference.The introduction introduces mainly about the situation of current research about the Japanese American internment,and sums up and sumarizes briefly the relevant research products of foreign academic communities,and interprets the sense on choosing the title and the research approach of this paper.The main body makes up four parts:Part one reviews briefly the context of the incarceration history of the Japanese Americans and the decision made by the government to evacuate and relocate the Japanese Americans,including the history of the ancient Japanese Americans and the reason that they were discriminated in American before Pearl Harbor,and the reactions of the people of all ranks after Pearl Harbor.Part two analyses the settling of the internment camps.This part includs the mass evacuation of the Japanese Americans lived in the west coast,and the relocations that choosed for the internment camps,also the different types and the construction and facilities of them.Part three inspects the details of their daily life in the camps,including the basic living conditions,the opportunities to education and work,the everyday life,the camp security and the close of the camp.Part four talks about the influences of the internment camp.This part includs the financial losses and the impact on Japanese American communities and the relationship between Japan and America during the Second World War.From the research of the internment camps, we can find out their special experiences during the war, and by knowing this,we will know much more about their assimilation after the war. This internment was the most traumatic event in the lives of the majority of the Japanese Americans,and left emotional scars on the internees.They were treated unfairly by their government.But we should also take an objective view of the Japanese American internment camps and their special experiences.There had been a noticeable erosion of the Japanese traditional life style and customs in the camps,which helped them assimilate into the mainstream society of America.And this could be seemed as a positive influence on the future of the Japanese Americans.Just because of the experiences of the incarceration,they were prompted to make great success in American society after the war.
