This thesis mainlyconsists of five parts: the first part is about the present of manuallinen paper origin and development, mainly describes the relevanthistorical conditions before the appearance of traditional manuallinen paper and the later development. The second part mainlymakes visit and finishing to the traditional manual linen paperproduction process flow in the village of Jiang and Xi-hou of Shanxiprovince, makes detailed records about manual linen paper whenmaking inventories, cutting materials, grinding materials, steamedmaterials, play slot, dipping paper and so on, and manual linenpaper in some previous purposes and linen paper market conditions.The third part compares with the traditional manual papermakingand modern paper, compares in the difference of raw materials, themethod of making, the appearance, the performance of the paper,and the market. The fourth part mainly puts forward somecorresponding measures to protect the manual linen papermanufacturing process when facing with crisis that traditionalpapermaking technology will be lost. Firstly we should protect theraw materials and the passing people with manual linen paper skills;Then protect the manual linen paper skills itself, and also makesome superficial thinking and suggestions to the future of themanual linen paper prospects, let the manual linen paper have agood space in realistic society. It mayattract more attention to traditional skills of Shanxi manual hemppaper and prevent the non-material heritage of mankind fromdamage. However, how to make handicrafts co-exist in modernsociety with rapid economic development is a problem worthy oflong-term study and consideration. There exist so many restrainingfactors that have influence on me. So it may have some omissionsand inappropriateness due to my limited capacity, limited time, andregional condition confine.
