Procrastination is very common in life, and it affect people’s work, study and other aspects.There are a lot of research about procrastination, and academic procrastination has become a hotspot.Most researchers define it as a tendency to delay in the learning environment or delaybehavior related to learning activities. Academic procrastination not only affect students’ academicperformance, but also affect students’ physical and mental health.Studies have found that there aremany factors that can affect academic procrastination,and anxiety, depression and other negativeemotions associated with it.Study has found high level of self-forgiveness reduce the level ofacademic procrastination.High level of self-forgiveness maybe experience less negativeemotions,and thus level of academic procrastination is not high. Different kinds of emotionregulation strategies also affect emotion. There are not many researchs about analysis ofinteractions between variables among existing researchs.Studies generally thought academicprocrastination will bring bad outcome, but active procrastination and passive procrastination openup a new perspective,active procrastination is a procrastination on purpose and with satisfactionoutcome.This study select undergraduates and graduates as participants, and use questionnaires toexplore these following questions:1.academic procrastination status of undergraduates andgraduates;2.the relationship between different emotion regulation strategies、self-forgivenessand academic procrastination;3.general features of active procrastination and passiveprocrastination;4.the relationship between different emotion regulation strategies, self-forgivenessand different academic procrastinations.The following conclusion is then reached:1. Level of academic procrastination of students is not very high,and level of procrastinationon academic task is significant higher than non-academic task.Most students want to change theprocrastination;The main reasons of academic procrastination are:fear of failure,aversion to thetask,can’t make decisions.2. Significant negative correlation exists between self-forgiveness and overall academicprocrastination,Significant negative correlation exists between the strategy of expression suppression and overall academic procrastination, Self-forgiveness and the strategy of cognitivereappraisal are significantly positively correlated;Self-forgiveness negatively predict overallacademic procrastination and positively predict the strategy of cognitive reappraisal, the strategy ofexpression suppression negatively predict overall academic procrastination; Emotion regulationstrategies have no mediation effect on relationship between self-forgiveness and academicprocrastination.3. No significant differences were found between active procrastination and passiveprocrastination on level of procrastination.Passive procrastinationers prefer to changeprocrastination,and active procrastinationers get more scores on “aversion to the task”、“risk”;4. Among active procrastinationers,significant correlations don’t exist between academicprocrastination and self-forgiveness、emotion regulation strategies;Among passiveprocrastinationers,significant positive correlation exists between self-forgiveness and overallacademic procrastination、procrastination of non-academic task,and self-forgiveness has apositive correlation with the strategy of cognitive reappraisal;Self-forgiveness significant predictoverall academic procrastination、procrastination of non-academic task;Emotion regulationstrategies have no mediation effect on relationship between self-forgiveness and academicprocrastination.
