Oil painting is an important form of drawing because of its rich sculpt performance,various artistic form and protean colour of inherence. It is rather significant for good oilpainting works with strong appeal to own special artistic languages. Sweetness andbitterness, luxuriance and simpleness, brightness and darkness can all reflect the artists′view to the world and life. Novel theme and weird technique are not enough to conveythe inner world of the artist. As a visual art, oil painting has its own regularity, whileartists in our times just lack attention and research to oil painting languages. Oilpainting language is not only a means of painting. For artists engaged in oil paintingcreation, it is no doubt important to study the development history and aesthetic value.Oil painting language like our Chinese language, expresses the most real ourselves.Artists engaged in oil painting should have the thinking pattern about the state of oilpainting languages.The expression of oil painting languages reflect the painters’ personalitycharacteristics and aesthetic orientation. Chinese and western artists have been seekingto express their understanding of the world by their unique painting languages andadvanced artistic ideas. The formation of unique painting languages requires systematicresearch and further thinking, or it is hard to form his own unique artistic style. Thepainters should calm down for further research on their own painting languages, nomatter on materials, tools or various techniques.This essay, starting from the importance and characteristics of oil painting,expounds the position of oil painting languages in oil painting, their materials andtechniques and the beauty of color and texture. Then the development of oil paintinglanguages is presented, highlighting artists’ work characteristics and the spirit of the agein all periods. Finally the paper discusses the aesthetic value of oil painting languagesfrom their nationalization, reality and imagery, based on their development.
