This study chose four beginner level Chinese language books as its research subject.Two of them are edited by Korean editors, and the other two are edited by Chinese editors.This research focuses on four perspectives:the words’difficulty level, part of speechdistribution, vocabularies’ category distribution and vocabularies repetition rate, to comparethe similarities and differences of these four Chinese teaching materials. The research used“Modern Chinese Dictionary”,“Modern Chinese Classification Dictionary”,“Words andCharacters of the Chinese Proficiency Level Outline” as the standard, along with relatedtheories and existing research, to inspect the vocabularies’ characteristics that reflect thedifferences between beginner level Chinese language books of these two countries.The statistics analysation of vocabularies in these four books found out these features asbelow:After comparing these teaching materials to “Words and Characters of the ChineseProficiency Level Outline”, the words’difficulty level of these four materials are generallymore elementary, but the vocabularies that exceed the outline still exist in these four books, insome certain level in these four books reflect the differences of the books’ content and—the editing concept of each editors.The part of speech distribution of these four books is unique, but the difference is mostlyfound between notional words. Among those notional words, the nouns have the highestproportion of disparity. In contrast, there is not much disparity between each book whenfocusing on measure word teaching.Vocabularies’category distribution of these four books has emerged along with the riseof new words in society—they all intend to keep the words up to date, The food names thatappear among the “food and drink category”are closely related to the cultures.The differencesbetween Chinese and korean books are quite obvious, mainly reflect in:1. Korean textbookspay more attention to Chinese culture and China’s national contents,2. Chinesetextbooks’vocabularies mostly focus on daily life words for students who live or study inChina,3. Korean textbooks’ vocabularies are not quite related to exchange students’daily lifewords,4. Korean textbooks’vocabularies contain more Korean culture-specific words.vocabularies Repetition rate, the research follow the high, medium, low standardsdivision of the frequency of occurrence of words in each book, focus on analysing mediumfrequency of the word.In short, by statistically analyzing the words of these four textbooks. we found that, thedifference between Korean and Chinese textbooks’ is in the words’ semantic. Not only arethere differences in semantic between countries, but also between Chinese textbookswritten by different authors, or Korean textbooks written by different authors.These textbooksalso have differences, such as the number of new words in each lesson, word categories, orthe repetition rate.
