On "sitting" Research Into The Phenomenon Of Sitting In Interior Design

"Sitting" is a basic living status of human beings, to some extent, the development of the behavior and the furnishings of sitting can be regarded as a microcosm of human history. For a long time, Chinese and foreign scholars have proceeded from different perspectives to carry out constant and comprehensive investigations into this basic human behavior, including historical evolution, aesthetic value, cultural value, material changes, technology development and so forth, as a result, a large number of valuable literature has been generated, all of which serve as the theoretical foundations for this article. In this dissertation, I try to proceed from the empirical study of the basic sitting behavior of the contemporary "social people", to examine the basic rules of sitting in interior design and finally to understand the influence and guidance of“sitting”to the human lives.The dissertation is divided into three chapters. The first chapter begins with the discussion of the origin of the behavior of sitting and the seating. The second chapter starts from the "sitting" behavior of office staff, relating sitting and seating to the working type and management model ; the sitting behaviors of individuals in the bars are examined to analyze the role of“sitting”in social communication ; the settings as well as the furniture layout in hotels are investigated to discuss the identity reflected by sitting and its symbolic meaning. Following the two chapters, the third chapter summarizes the previous information to demonstrate the best way of designing and working in interior design.
