ObjectiveThis thesis focuses on exploring the effect of the Specialist Training System on asthma patients in such aspects as the inhalation technique, inhalation therapy compliance, the level of asthma control, the attitude towards inhalation therapy, the attitude towards health education mode and the construction of partnership with patients.MethodsMild to moderate asthma patients were selected as our subjects from two hospitals in Jinan from January2012to June2012.120patients were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group. A baseline assessment, including basic information, the level of asthma control and the patients’ attitude to the inhalation therapy, was given to all the patients before health education, the Specialist Training System was adopted to carry out the education and management of asthma of the experimental group patients. The patients in the control group, however were given conditional health education. The total number of times needed to correctly grasp the inhalation technique by the patients in the experimental group was counted on the8th day of health education. The assessment, which includes the inhalation technique, inhalation therapy compliance, and the level of asthma control, was made of the two groups of the patients respectively after one month and3months of health education. The patients of the two groups were given assessment after one month, including the attitude towards inhalation therapy, the attitude towards health education mode and the attitude towards the construction of partnership with patients. The research tool included the questionnaire of basic information, the inhalation therapy test, the questionnaire of the inhalation therapy compliance, the questionnaire of the attitude towards inhalation therapy, the questionnaire of the attitude towards health education, the questionnaire of attitude towards the construction of the patient/medical staff partnership, and asthma control test.SPSS13.0software was employed to make the data analysis.Results1. There were no significant differences between the two groups in baseline demographic characteristics, attitude towards the inhalation therapy and level of the asthma control (P>0.05). The two groups were comparable.2.The patients in the experimental group grasped the right inhalation technique after4.77±1.09times education, and the aged patients above66years old need5.92±1.31times education.3.The inhalation technique pass rates of both the one month’ education and the3months’education in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group, as is statistically significant (P<0.01,P<0.01). There’s no difference between the one-month pass rate and the three-month pass rate within the experimental group, as is of no statistic significance (P>0.05)4.Compared to the control group at the end of the first month, the attitude towards inhalation therapy, the attitude towards health education model and the attitude towards medical staff and patient partnership building were all significantly better in the experimental group, as is statistically significant ((P<0.05,P<0.05,P<0.01)5.Compared to the control group, the patients were significantly more compliant for the inhalation therapy after health education in the experimental group, as is statistically significant(P<0.05).There’s no significant difference between the one-month compliance and the three-month compliance within the experimental group,as is statistically significant (P>0.05)6.Compared to the control group, the level of asthma control with the experiments group both at the end of the first and the third month, is much higher, as is of statistic significant (P<0.01, P<0.01). Within the experimental group, the level of asthma control was significantly improved at the end of the first month compared to the level before education (P<0.01) and was better improved at the end of the third month.(P<0.01)Conclusions1.The asthma patients need4.77±1.09times of training to grasp the right inhalation with the Specialist Training System, and the elderly patients need more times.2.The Specialist Training System can obviously improve the asthma patients’ knowledge of the inhalation therapy, and thus further improve their inhalation technique, inhalation therapy compliance, and the level of asthma control.3.The Specialist Training System with asthma patients can enhance the patents’ approval of the health education system, which may result in the higher assessment of the nursing work, and thus further promote the construction of partnership between patients and the medical staff, laying the necessary foundation for the education and management of asthma patients in the long term.4.The Specialist Training System with asthma patients has provided reference for the education and management work in the inhalation clinical application.
