Objective:By detecting the discordance of epidermal growth factor receptor mutations between primary and corresponding metastatic tumors in non-small cell lung cancer, and we can understand the discordance and get the theoretical guidance for clinical treatment. Results:The EGFR gene type is consistent between primary non-small cell lung cancer and the corresponding metastases in two cases of three specimens. And in the first case the EGFR gene types of the lung primary tumor and the brain metastases are both the mutant types, the second one the EGFR gene types of the lung primary tumor and the brain metastases are both the wild type. The EGFR gene type is inconsistent between the NSCLC primary tumors and the brain metastasis in the third case. The EGFR gene type of the primary lung tumors is wild, and the EGFR gene type of the brain metastasis is mutant. Conclusions:The study proves that the EGFR gene mutation status is sometimes inconsistent between the NSCLC primary tumor and the corresponding metastasis.
