Clinical Research On The Treatment Of Parkinson’s Disease With Strengthening Kidney And Activating Circulation

【objective】To study the optimized scheme for treatment of Parkinson’s disease(PD)withcombined Traditional Chinese and Western medicine,which is supported by Militaryresearch project and Research planning project of Beijing.We adopted motorsigns,symptoms in TCM,levels of Neurotransmitter in brain,muscular tension,usage ofMadopar to observe the effects of Strengthening Kidney and Activating Circulation（SKAC）.【Method】①Arandomized，Single-blind，placebo-controlled clinical study was undertaken.88PD patients were randomly divided into Bushen Huoxue Granule（BSHXG）groupand control group. The control group of43cases was treated with Western medicineand placebo while the BSHXG group of45cases was treated with Bushen HuoxueGranule and placebo. All patients were treated for3months. Before and aftertreatment measure Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS),Scale of TCMSyndrome for PD of all objects respectively, Using encephalofluctuography (EFG) tomeasure the changes of DA and5-HT in both groups at the meantime.②Application CHISS statistical software. Metering data to mean and standarddeviation, the homogeneity of variance data into a normal distribution by using the ttest or analysis of variance; such as data distribution is not correct to state orheterogeneity of variance or Wilcoxon test.Count data using the chi-square testanalysis. Set significant level α=0.05, hypothesis testing are taking a two-sided test. 【Result】①After three months treatment，the score of Unified Parkinson’s DiseaseRating Scale (UPDRS)in BSHXG group was (46.25.7), significantly improved ascompared with before treatment (55.36.8)(P<0.05)and the control group aftertreatment（51.66.8）(P＜0.05). The progress rate in BSHXG group (82.2%) wassimilar with that in control group (70.1%)(P＜0.05). The score of Scale of TCMSyndrome for PD in BSHXG group was(19.23.2). significantly improved ascompared with before treatment (23.53.6)(P＜0.05), significantly lower than that incontrol group after treatment（21.44.5）(P<0.05).The BSHXG group showed ahigher efficacy than the control group in improving symptoms in TCM(P＜0.05),effective power88.9%.②After three months treatment，the level of DAand5-HT in BSHXG group was（5.70.54）and（19.69.1）, significantly improved as compared with beforetreatment (4.20.57)and（15.47.5）(P<0.05). significantly higher than that ofcontrol group.after treatment（3.40.42）and（14.08.1）.③The treatment group showed a higher efficacy in relieving motor functionobstacle, from the aspects of both biceps brachii and quadriceps femoris(P＜0.05).【Conclusion】①BSHXG is effective and safe in improving motor signs and symptoms in TCMof PD patients (P＜0.05).The curative effects were more permanent andstable.BSHXG can markedly improve symptoms in TCM in Parkinson’s patients.②Levels of DAand5-HT in brain and static muscular tension were significantly improved with the effects of the SKAC treatment.③The pathogenic factors of PD was multiple, only by symptomatic treatmentwith L-dopa,many symptoms couldn’t be relieved effectively. The therapeutic effectof Bushen Huoxue Granule on PD is partially attributed to increased level of DA and5-HT in the brain of PD patients.The whole adjustment of Chinese medicine and theneuroprotective effect of decoction indicated that treatment combined westernmedicine and traditional Chinese medicine, may be the best modality of PD systemtreatment. They could make up for each other.
