| Objective To study the application effect of high-frequency unipolar electric knife with mixed mode in tonsillectomy.Methods36patients aged4~40years, males or females who had tonsillectomy or adenotonsillectomy for recurrent episodes of chronic tonsillitis, hypertrophy of tonsils or hypertrophy of tonsils and adenoid were included, they were admitted to the Second Hospital of Shandong University from June2012to March2013. Randomly, one side of the tonsils got tonsillectomy by peel off method, the other side got tonsillectomy with high-frequency unipolar electric knife in mixed mode. All operations were finished by the same doctor who was skilled and has rich experience. The operative time, intraoperative bleeding, postoperative bleeding, pain, white membrane formation and sloughing is compared and analyzed. Results The operative time of the high-frequency unipolar electric knife group was8.18±2.33min on average, blood loss was5.44±1.28ml on average, both are significantly less than the traditional peel off group. Pain intensity and postoperative hemorrhage was no differences. Conclusions The application of high-frequency unipolar electric knife with mixed mode in tonsillectomy is a safe, reliable technique. It will shorten the operative time, improve efficiency, reduced the loss of blood which has been an important issue, especially in children. |
