Background:Chronic heart failure (CHF) is a clinical end-stagedisease with high mortality rate, an accurate assessment of the severityand prognosis of great significance to the treatment of heart failure.Ghrelin is a new brain-gut peptide hormones, its regulatory role on thecardiovascular system homeostasis gradually get people’s attention. Inthis study, in patients with chronic heart failure serum ghrelin levelscompared with normal control population; compare different NYHAclassification ghrelin levels; ghrelin levels before and after treatment;ghrelin with traditional indicators of heart failure BNP, LVEF correlation;ghrelin levels in systolic the difference in heart failure and diastolic heartfailure, analyzed and discussed the significance of ghrelin levels inpatients with chronic heart failure. Methods:The subjects: Select from June2012to February2013,42cases in our hospital Cardiology, hospitalized patients with chronic heartfailure, including22males and20females, mean age60±13, healthycontrol group (control)20patients, randomly selected from the sameperiod in health,9men and11women, with an average of53±7years old. The underlying diseases include: ischemic cardiomyopathy, valvular heart disease, dilated cardiomyopathy, hypertensive heart disease, and arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy. Standards of the New York HeartAssociation (NYHA) heart function classification grouping, while furtherdivided into systolic heart failure and diastolic line heart failure group.Serum ghrelin cf treatment with BNP levels, Serum ghrelin levels beforeand after treatment, evaluation of serum the ghrelin level of severity ofheart failure evaluation, treatment and prognosis value. SPSS17.0statistical software for analysis, all measurement data normality test, X±s. The normal distribution of the measurement data using tailed t-tests,non-normal distribution of measurement data using bilateral rank sum test, the groups were compared using the t test or rank sum test of twoindependent samples of data. Ghrelin and other variables using simplelinear correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. P <0.05wasstatistically significant. The results: Patients with heart failure serum ghrelin levels weresignificantly higher than healthy individuals. NYHA II class vsNYHAⅠclass(healthy control group) has no significant difference (P>0.05); NYHA III、IV class vs NYHA I、II class ghrelin levels weresignificantly increased (P <0.01); NYHA IV class vs NYHA III classghrelin levels were significantly increased (P <0.01). Systolic heartfailure patients in NYHAII、III、IV class, the post-treatment serum ghrelin levels were lower than pre-treatment, the changes in ghrelin levelsdifference was statistically significant between pre and post-treatment.Linear regression analysis showed that in patients with chronic heartfailure, BNP serum ghrelin levels were positively correlated (r=0.325, P<0.05).Conclusion:1.serum ghrelin expression levels can be used as an evaluation of patientswith chronic heart failure severity index;2.serum ghrelin expression levels can evaluate the treatment effect ofchronic heart failure;3.serum ghrelin expression levels on systolic and diastolic heart failure, were evaluated with significance.
