Objective: To investigate the related factors and prophylaxis policyof fever after minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy(mPCNL).Methods: A retrospective study was accomplished on128caseswho underwent mPCNL from2011.1-2013.3. By analyzing the factors, including age, gender, preoperative urinary infection, hydronephrosis, diameter of stone, staghorn stone, operation time, irrigation fluid volumeand complicated diabetes,we found out the related ones with fever aftermPCNL and the prophylaxis policy. Results:Fever after mPCNL occurred in48cases and the incidencerate was37.5%. The factors, including preoperative urinary infection, diameter of stone, staghorn stone, operation time, irrigation fluid volumewere related with the fever after mPCNL,and there was significantdifference between fever group and non-fever group about abovementioned factors(P<0.05). Whereas,no significant difference wasobserved between fever group and non-fever group, when compared withfactors such as age, gender, hydronephrosis, and diabetes(P>0.05).Uroculture was taken in80cases and40ones were positive, with thepositive rate50%. Conclusions:Fever is one of common complications after mPCNL,so the effective measures of preventing and treating post-operative fevershould be taken, including sufficient preoperative preparation, shorteroperation time, lower pressure perfusion, unobstructed drainage andappropriate applications of antibiotics.
