Purpose:During the annual visits, the patients of differentiated thyroid carcinoma treatedwith131I and without131I after operation were studied. According to the value ofthyroglobulin (TG) and color ultrasonic of thyroid, the recrudescent rate wasevaluated and the necessity of131I treatment was explained.Method:The90cases of patients of Differentiated Thyroid Carcinoma operation from thyroid surgery of Second Clinical Hospital Affiliated to Jilin University during Oct.-Dec.2010were chosen for this study. All the patients were suitable for131I treatment (mid-or high-risk groups). After talk with patients,48cases agree with131I treatment (A team), while42cases didn’t agree (B team). Two teams were given thyroxine to instead of secretion function of thyroid.46weeks after operation, A team patients were treated with131I. According to the value of thyroglobulin (TG) and color ultrasonic of thyroid of6months,1year,18months and two years after operation, the recrudescent rate was evaluated. Results:According to the visit results of90cases of patients, the average TG value of Ateam is <0.1mg/L and TG>5mg/L,<20mg/L for B team. There was no tumorrecurrence or distant metastasis for A team, while there were4cases recurrence and1case distant metastasis (bone metastases) for B team. It was concluded that the131I treatment is necessary for reducing differentiated thyroid carcinoma recrudescentrate and distant metastasis.
